You will be needing a pretty big fishing rod. It must be a strong and long rod for taking on big types of fish in the ocean. Strong fishing line will definitely be needed for fishing in saltwater. The strength of fishing line goes by , pound test. For example, a good pound test for salt water fishing would be thirty to fifty pound test. There are also steel liters. These are wire like fishing lines that are extremely strong and made for this type of fishing.

If you want to catch a fish in the ocean, you will need to use other fish as bait. A fish about six inches long will attract many fish. Some people will use frozen fish. This will work just fine. Of course you will be needing a very big hook as well.
To fish on the bottom or get deep into the water you will also need heavy weights to attach to you line. About a one pound weight should do just fine.

All you need to go fishing in the ocean for saltwater fish is a big rod, strong pound test line, some weights, and big bait for the big fish.
