So you've seen a lot of horror films about teenagers going off on a deep sea fishing adventure right? I'm sure that most have seen many films with the stereotyped shark at the bay kind of scenes where people go fishing out at sea and then get eaten by some sort of shark or other large sea creature. Even still, I'm sure that many people have seen television programs in which men are out at sea fishing catching 10 pound bass and other large fish. Through watching the programs why wouldn't you have sparked a lust for deep sea fishing? The only problem is that you've never done it before.

Compared to other types of fishing, deep sea fishing requires a lot more tackle. If you've never heard the term "tackle" before, just know that it refers to generally any sort of fishing equipment. You may have heard the term "tackle box." Note that DSFdeep sea fishing will require a lot more tackle than a general fishing trip.

There are two styles of deep sea fishing, trolling and bottom fishing. This form of DSF is carried out by keeping the boat at a constant speed of about six knots. The bait used here is generally fishing lure. It's drawn on a line through the water slightly below the surface. In short your out at sea and your fishing on the surface. In bottom fishing however, like the name implies, the boat anchors in deep and hooks coded with lures are dropped to the bottom of the sea. Now there are other styles of DSF, netting being one of them. Netting is simple. It's done by tossing a net into a widely populated area of fish and after so long the net is pulled up. When the net is above water fish, if done correctly, will line the net.

Some of the most popular area's to deep sea fish are, the Mississippi Gulf coast, also the San Diego coast, and finally the Cozumel coast and Cancun beaches.
